For the first time I participated a government survey on a piece of legislation. I got the link from Amnesty International.
My comments on this survey: Inquiry into the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill 2012 and the Marriage Amendment Bill 2012.
I am not an expert on the contents on the above bills. My view is that any law should allow same sex couples to be married and for such marriages overseas to be recognized. I do not think that anyone should be forced to perform a marriage ceremony. Though I do think that if
theytheir job includes performing marriage ceremonies then they should not be allowed to refuse to perform a ceremony simply on the basis of the face that the couple are of the same sex.I think that same sex marriages should be identical in law to different sex marriages.
